Dream it, print it, touch it!
Becoming a software engineer made many things possible. Computers are generally quite accessible these days and programming is mostly working with text. While many people still find it fascinating or “inspiring,” programming is probably the most obvious technical field for the blind. Unfortunately, in my experience, it lacks something important. Touch!
After achieving a proof-of-concept on the SniperSound project, it was clear that I needed to build some custom hardware. 3D printing is a massively popular method for creating prototypes, products, and artwork. Typically the design phase is extremely visual and inaccessible. After a lot of research and practice, I found tools that make it both possible and productive.
